SAVE DOCTORS

▪️ The death of  a PG doctor who was on duty inside RG Kar Medical college, who was brutally raped and murdered  is one of the most shocking incident. The hospital administration and the higher up management remaining silent over this matter and attempting to hide facts is unforgivable.

▪️ Off late , suicides and deaths of Indian doctors have been steadily increasing and yet no one seems to be bothered by it.

▪️ Our country which has many news channels besides active social media users rarely telecast news related to deaths of doctors.  Only few members in the doctor community showcase their support via social media.

▪️ The Government and opposition continue to remain silent despite the deaths of doctors due to suicide, rape or murder. Despite many daily cases of physical violence on doctors during duty, no rules are amended or strict punishment is enforced. Now-a-days, the daily news of doctor being thrashed by attendants has become so common and they even get away with it. I can’t imagine any other profession where an engineer, lawyer, contractor or municipal corporation official being attacked on duty at their work place by public due to alleged lapse on their end. If so an incident happens, the culprits would be immediately held responsible for their actions.

▪️ The toxicity of professors and faculty over the residents, the long working hours have taken a toll on  physical and mental health. The so called faculty who at one point of time were students, instead of being considerate  are the ones responsible for these deaths.

▪️ The increasing number of deaths, no response from government or medical authorities and the least bothered public who will share the most trivial matters over social media but not care about their own doctors are one of the few reasons of doctors leaving this country .

▪️ In a country with the highest population, where the government and people often cry about the absence of doctors at grass root level, where quacks are favoured over trained doctors, where doctors are available 24*7 (unlike the west where getting an appointment of a specialist is almost impossible), where doctors often give many free consultation to people and are yet misjudged when they expect money for their service, where  people are ok with spending thousands in a movie for popcorn but cry when they are charged half the amount they spend for other purposes, all these eventually led to the current sorry state of affairs.

▪️The heights of controversy and scam in NEET UG, NEET-PG this year is another issue. Medical education has become a joke.

▪️ 64 MBBS, 58 PG medical students committed suicide from 2018-22: RTI. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

▪️ I wish that the criminals responsible for this incident are immediately subjected to harsh legal punishment and necessary amendments be made to the current system to prevent such future indebted incidents. However, if the culprits escape from this, I wish karma gets the better of them and they suffer for this inhumane act which they have committed.

    1. The laws of india saves the rich & takes very long to bring criminals for punishment.
