The Musings of a Millennial

  ▪️  When Life's unfair to us, we have a myriad of emotions. Most of us feel " How could I not see this coming ?" or " It would have been better if I was given any pointers or warning signs. " ▪️Be it offline or online, many of us always accept the " End User License Agreement " (EULA) or "Terms & Conditions" (T&C) without reading it. We do so because we are very busy and can't go through the elaborate conditions, written in a small font. Most importantly, unless we accept it, we can't proceed further. Sometimes this ignorance costs us very deeply. The best example is an insurance claim being rejected on the grounds of "T&C mentioned" & "User agreement. "  ▪️My point is, similar to how the EULA or T&C are mentioned initially in a small font and most of us fail to acknowledge them,  Life also gives us warning signs and pointers about the impending doom.   ▪️ Marriage is one of the life changing events in a person's life. People decide to spend the rest of their lives with a " compatible partner " and build a family with them. They enter into this next phase of life with a lot of expectations. Marriage was considered as a welcome change in one's life. ▪️ In an average Indian family, marriage was presumed as an essential thing in one's life. Majority of the people had a similar, linear flow of events. EDUCATION --- JOB  --- MARRIAGE ---  CHILDREN ▪️ And this cycle repeats. Parents had the responsibility of settling their children both personally & professionally.  ▪️ Most of the marriages in the past were deemed to be successful. Even if one or both of the partners were unhappy in their marriage, still they used to be together for the sake of their children, society etc with some adjustments and compromises .  ▪️ Over the past few decades, the number of unsuccessful marriages has been rising gradually.   ▪️Many of you might have thought the title was just a click bait or a simple wordplay. The beauty of any language lies in its grammar and the same is applicable to the title. Just swapping their positions gives an entirely different meaning to them , which is relevant to everyone, especially in the current times. ▪️Being Social refers to the present day person who spends more time in social networking over direct interaction with a person. Social Being refers to the age old human being who interacts with people and befriends them. ▪️The famous Greek philosopher, Aristotle told that "Man is by nature a social animal."   ▪️ We are living in the digital age. It's true in many aspects including the way a person communicates.  ▪️In the ancient times, there was only one way of communication i.e One on One approach. People used to meet others and express themselves. This was followed by Post i.e. sending letters, which was prevalent among the medieval times. Telegram became the first text based messaging platform. The invention of Telephone greatly affected the field of communication. It was initially wired which later became wireless.  ▪️The millennials were acquainted with both wired and wireless communication devices. Internet and social networking were introduced later with the premise of effective communication between distant people and providing a platform to interact with people across the world. ▪️People started spending more time in these social platforms and gradually lost the confidence to communicate with a person face to face.   India is a land which was ahead of its time. Sanatana Dharma which was practised in India, was a nexus of Science, Culture, Religion & Spirituality.  In this article I have tried to explain one such concept.
