  The other day I found my friend sitting in a corner, deeply lost in thought. I figured out that something was bothering him and asked him what was it all about? He looked me in the eye with an expressionless face and said " We were friends for years and yet I didn't see this coming from him. I thought I knew him in and out." He had an emotional breakdown but was controlling his tears.

  Vijayadashami is celebrated in our country by burning the effigies of Ravana , a symbolic representation of victory of the righteousness over the evil. In the olden days, the saints and sages used to explain the wisdom of life and living by telling a story and then relating it to individual life. Ramayana is one such epic which teaches us way of life.

Goddess Durga , Lakshmi and Saraswati are seen as three dimensions symbolizing the Earth , the Sun and the Moon , or Tamas (inertia), Rajas (activity, passion) and Sattva (transcendence, knowledge, purity), respectively. The nine days of Navratri are classified according to these basic qualities. The first three days are dedicated to Durga, the next three to Lakshmi, and the last three to Saraswati. The tenth day, Vijayadashami, signifies the triumph over all these three aspects of life. The first two dimensions of the Devi are needed for human survival and wellbeing. The third is an aspiration to transcend, to go beyond. There is no physical entity without all these three dimensions. Not a single atom is free of these three dimensions. These three qualities are present in everything. It is just a question of to what extent you mix these things. Polarity is the principle which governs most of the things in the universe. Life and Death is one of them. What's the difference between life and death? Setting the medical jargon aside, a common man would say that Soul is the differentiating factor between the two. A person without a soul is a dead body and the same dead body with a soul is an alive person. Without delving into religious beliefs, using science, we can attribute soul as a form of energy. So, energy i.e., soul can neither be created nor be destroyed but it can be transferred from one body to another .
