Life lessons from Cricket World Cup

"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players." - William Shakespeare

I remembered these words as the ICC 2023 World Cup final concluded. The loss is indeed disheartening for all cricket fans including me.

Why did we lose ? People have many theories and reasons to justify it, but this article isn't about that.

What can we infer from this tournament? How's it similar to Life? Let's discuss that.

1. Team India was undefeated in the league matches and was the first team which qualified for the finals. We had a strong team which was good in all 3 departments. The whole country expected that such a team would win. Yet we lost.

▪️In life too, everyone goes through a phase where all things are going well. We feel it's too good to be true and eventually our doubts are proven right when we face an unexpected outcome.

▪️To put in simple words, Life's not always smooth and it hits you hard when you are least expecting it.

2. Individually, Rohit, Virat, Bumrah, Shami etc were at their best. They performed exceptionally good but even that didn't matter in the finale. It was just not their day.

▪️Sometimes, You may achieve many things and reach new heights but even that's not enough to achieve your goal. You can't pinpoint one reason for the defeat. May be that's where Luck comes in.

▪️They say hardwork and blessings of God/People, facilitate to achieve our goals. But that's just what we expect to happen and not how life plays out. Sometimes, You need Luck too for things to work in your favour.

3. We always attribute our happiness to the results and if it's not in our favour, we feel disappointed. That's what happened with the entire cricket fans and Team India too.

▪️We will be fans of Team India despite their defeat. The way forward is to accept the painful reality. You can't say you have seen life, if you haven't experienced pain. We can't forget it or deny it as it will always be a part of us.

4. This may be the last WC for some players who totally deserved this win. They failed in achieving the win for the past few years . So is this a big failure on their part?

▪️ May be, this was just not meant to be, despite having many other records. They say that " The Journey is more important rather than the Destination." A single thing alone doesn't define a person's success. Not everyone is meant to have a happy ending.

▪️ That's how Life is, for some people. But that's doesn't take away their credibility. We should still respect them for their efforts and contributions.

"Life's too short to be stuck up at this moment. Let's accept the harsh reality and move on, because neither Time nor Life stops for any of us . "
